Nike Unity

Nike Ball Man

for Nike

For the FIFA World Cup, Nike set up the Nike Academy Soweto in Johannesburg, South Africa. The centre gave young footballers the opportunity to develop their football talent and use a series of digital interactive features. Nike asked Public to create one of the features for this centre.

Adult Swim

[adult swim] UK

for Turner Broadcasting Europe

Public were given the opportunity to work on [adult swim] in the summer of 2009. Being a brand we have long admired we were very happy to be given the chance to redesign and develop the UK site. [adult swim] has long had a huge presence in the US and is known as a highly innovative brand. This gave our creative team a fantastic opportunity to work on a project with a client who are happy for us to innovate too.

MTV K-Swiss

Re-master the Classic

for MTV | K-Swiss

Public answered the call from MTV this January to help develop a microsite for a campaign with sportswear brand K-Swiss. The campaign focuses on the K-Swiss Classic and is part of a global campaign to relaunch the trainer. Users of the site are asked to get creative by designing a 3D model of the K-Swiss Classic and entering it into a competition. The designs are submitted to a gallery, and the best three entries are put to a public vote. The overall winner receives 5,000 Euros to spend on redesigning a space of their choice within their home.

MTV Body Shop

Yes to Safe Sex campaign

for MTV | The Body Shop

In late 2008, Public was commissioned to design and build the Staying Alive website for MTV. Staying Alive is part of MTV’s social responsibility organisation, and the focus of the site is to increase awareness of Aids and HIV among young people. Following on from the successful launch of the main site, we were asked to work on a new fundraising campaign with MTV and The Body Shop, the third successive campaign between the two organisations.

Monsters Vs Aliens

Monsters Vs Aliens

for The Cartoon Network | Yoplait

Public designed and built the Frubetopia website for The Cartoon Network and Yoplait in 2007. Frubetopia is a gaming portal for children that allows users to play games to win points to win prizes. Frubetopia has over 100,000 registered users playing games online on a daily basis and has received over 600,000 unique visits, with players spending up to 12 minutes on average on the site.

Staying Alive

Staying Alive

for MTV

Off the back of our continued relationship with MTV, we were really pleased to have the opportunity to design and develop the new MTV/Staying Alive Campaign and Foundation sites with a supporting CMS. Crucial to the project was the design of two sites (Foundation and Campaign), which would allow conversation between users based upon the super-informative content on youth issues such as sexual diseases, in particular HIV / AIDS, drugs and alcohol.

Swatch

Best Show Ever

for MTV | Swatch

Best Show Ever’ with MTV was a project that lasted over a year from start to finish and included many different phases of content changes and updates. The site was sponsored by Swatch and was a fully integrated online and on-air experience. ‘Best Show Ever’ was an interstitial, short-form TV show on MTV that was completely user generated. All of the content that ended up on air was either uploaded to or recorded via the website.

theSite

Thesite.org

for youthnet

It always makes us happy when we get to continue a working relationship with a client based on successful previous projects, and this especially applies to our recent redesign of thesite.org, which we first worked on three years ago. The charity Youthnet contacted us to ask if we would be interested in pitching for the redesign, and we were more than happy to oblige given the fantastic work that thesite does for young people.

Frubetopia

Frubes.co.uk

Turner Broadcasting | Yoplait

Launched in early 2007, the Frubetopia website has proved to be a phenomenal success, with a still-growing database of registered users who return frequently to play games and enjoy a light version of social networking. The project is a co-production between Turner Broadcasting and Yoplait and replaced the old Frubes.co.uk website as Yoplait looked to create a more engaging environment for its audience to interact.

Ghostville

The National Lottery – Instant Win Games

Our relationship with The National Lottery spans the last four years and we are very proud to have partnered TNL in their development of Instant Win Games. The development of Instant Win Games has frequently tested our skills both from a design and development point of view and also in terms of creating actual products that people pay money to interact with. Instant Win Games have grown steadily since they were launched in the second license and it is fantastic that we can continue to work with TNL on such a successful product that also helps raise money for good causes.

Open Season

Open Season 2

for Viacom | Sony

On the back of creating a number of successful websites for MTV this year, we were asked by MTV to develop a site to support the release of the Open Season 2 DVD by Sony. We have a lot of experience with websites aimed at children, so this was a project we were delighted to take on despite a very challenging deadline.

Cartoonito

Cartoonito

for Turner

Cartoonito is a website and TV channel that is aimed at 2-5 year olds, with a mandate to offer children a learning experience via interaction and play. The site was designed for parents and children to use together, offering an introduction to ‘soft’ learning and also learning French. We also developed a range of microsites, games and activities for both offline and online to help extend the learning experience beyond the computer.

Russel Brand

Russell Brand

for John Noel Management

To coincide with the launch of his new DVD and TV show, ‘Russell Brand’s Got Issues’, Russell thought it was time to refurbish his website. We were asked to design the site to include a content management system (CMS) so that any news could be updated easily. We wanted the site to be quirky, so we opted for rich animation. The site is playful and irreverent, yet it still gives the user relevant information about Russell’s award-winning BBC2 Podcasts and Guardian articles. This is a conceptual site with clearly defined areas for easy navigation but, nonetheless, it’s a truly memorable experience.

As the Bell Rings

As the Bell Rings

for Disney

As the Bell Rings’ is a short form programme that aired exclusively on the UK Disney Channel. We were asked to create a microsite for the show that gave users an immersive interactive experience while at the same time introducing the show and the characters. On the site, users are encouraged to sign up and communicate with members of the cast via a mobile phone interface. The more users interact with the site, the more access they are granted and, ultimately, the more content they are able to experience. The site was shortlisted for a Bafta interactive award in 2008.

PFD

PFD

Peters, Fraser and Dunlop are one of the largest and most successful literary agencies in the UK and as such needed a comprehensive website for use as a brochure for their range of work and also as a business tool to help potential clients find the skill or talent they needed. The site is run off of a very large database and the front end of the site is entirely content managed. As well as the actual development and build we helped PFD refresh their brand for a re-launch in early 2008.

Lego Starwars

Star Wars Lego

for Lego

Star Wars and Lego are two brands that many a designer has dreamed of being involved with, and we were lucky enough to be handed the double whammy. Lego launched a range of products to support the recent Clone Wars film, and we were asked to create an interactive storybook for the project to showcase the range of Clone Wars toys. Users are asked to create stories using products from the range and submit them to a competition. If the stories are creative enough, they are included in the online gallery.

Atlas

Atlas

for Discovery Channel

Discovery wanted a site to support its ‘Atlas’ show. The programme explores different continents, countries and cities using state-of-the-art technology with high-definition visuals. We thought this aspect was crucial when creating a site to complement the show. Covering China, Italy, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and India, Atlas is informative and entertaining. So we included videos, photos and downloadable content about architecture, festivals, religion, transport and anything insightful about that particular part of the world. We also designed a game to test the user on their worldly knowledge, with a variety of rounds and question types.

Dell

EMA Microsite

for Dell

Public created the Dell microsite for MTV to support its sponsorship of the 2008 EMAs. The microsite gave users the opportunity to upload video content of themselves showing their presenting skills, which ended up in a 3D gallery, created in Papervision. Votes were cast online, and the winner appeared on the red carpet at the event interviewing the stars. In the four-week period the competition was live, over 24,000 people entered the competition.

Hasbro Starwars

Hasbro Star Wars

for Turner

For this project we had to use our lightsaber experience (some more skilled than others) to create a game whereby wannabe Jedis or Siths can battle it out to raise points and win prizes. Designed to support the new range of Star Wars products, what better way to win a lightsaber than to prove you know how to use one? With dangerous obstacles flying at you, it’s crucial you learn how to keep them away using the lightsaber for protection. May the force be with you.

TCM Germany

TCM – Germany

for TCM

When Turner Classic Movies (TCM) launched a new channel in Germany, we were asked to build a supporting site. They asked for a smooth and contemporary website that would include the channel’s listings and also give important information on how to access the channel throughout different regions of Germany. We had to make the site accessible, and it needed to be easy to use and navigate around to find relevant content. Competitions and ‘send to a friend’ applications added a viral element to the site and, consequently, user figures grew rapidly.

CSI

LIVING tv – CSI

Key to the successful development of the CSI project was working closely with the marketing and promotions team from the very start of the project. We collaborated with all parties to help develop an idea and therefore the assets we received to build the project were tip top and this really helped us design and build a site that worked extremely well with the show. We feel that the show and the site couldn’t have been better integrated. As well as looking good and moving beautifully we also created a rather successful ‘whodunnit’ mechanic for a competition that gave the user the chance to become a super CSI sleuth.

Hanna Montana

Hannah Montana

for Disney Channel

To coincide with the launch of George at Asda’s new Hannah Montana clothing range, the Disney Channel asked us to build a fun, creative and interactive website. We developed a design-your-own Hannah Montana-themed T-shirt tool that enabled users to choose from shapes, colours, patterns, pictures and graphics, resulting in a personalised t-shirt that you could enter into a competition. Another fun element of the website enabled users to view the new George clothing range by dressing up a Hannah Montana doll.

John Noel

John Noel Management

for John Noel Management

John Noel Management looks after a diverse range of entertainers, including presenters, DJs, comedians and directors. Our challenge was to create a website to represent the talent to the best of its ability. One specification was a rich environment containing a showreel for each client. And, importantly, they wanted visitors to feel at ease as they navigated their way around the site. So, we created a ‘so-laid-back-it’s-almost-too-cool-for-us’ site with showreels that play smoothly when you click on a name. Easily updatable, the content remains fresh and newsworthy.

A Bears Tail

A Bear’s Tail

for John Noel Management

The main aim for this site was to promote the show. We built a site, created a viral and included interactive elements to maximise and enhance knowledge of the show. We designed the site and created the interactive tools, but we also co-wrote a lot of the content with Leigh Francis. And a lot of fun was had while we were doing it because we were allowed to be very, very rude. Built in HTML, this site includes flash elements.

Ben 10

Ben 10 Corinthians

for Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network asked us to create a mini site for ‘Ben 10’ to tie in with the launch of Ben 10 figurines, so we created a site that invites the user to explore the range through the medium of games and stories. We needed the magic to come alive online, so we also developed a 2D play scenario whereby the user can choose from a variety of themes, props and aliens to create their own story, with the option to print it and use it offline.

John Huston

TCM John Huston

for TCM

The British Film Institute and Turner Classic Movies came together to host a tour for the legendary John Huston, both through the TV channel and at cinemas all over the UK, showing a vast array of his films. We were asked to design and create a mini site featuring exclusive interviews with his daughter, the actress Anjelica Huston. This project was a pleasure from start to finish as we learnt a lot about the director/screenwriter/actor relationship. With a career spanning five decades, we used behind-the-scenes photography, a map of the tour for fans and plenty of background information and original trailers.

TCM Classic

Classic Shorts

for TCM

We were asked to create a website for the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) 2007 short film competition. This competition is for filmmakers outside the UK, so we produced application forms in a variety of different languages, including specific sections in German. The site included information about the judges and how to enter the competition, while showcasing previous entries for viewing. We built the site with CMS, which enabled Turner Classic Movies to update the site whenever they needed to.
